The Grand Old Duke of York had ten thousand men, he marched them up the hill and then right back down again. Though the journey was short, the Duke did not scowl; instead, he smiled brightly and turned the troops around. The song continued his venture with his soldiers ready and willing to follow his lead. He traveled up another hill and back down again, proving himself to be a brave and noble Duke. The Duke’s men were all quite pleased and thankful for their leader, who tirelessly marched them around the fields. He led them in victory, never faltering from his stance.
